Many local councils have introduced a rebate or partial waiver on the 2021 council rates for businesses & residents that are currently on JobKeeper.
Please check your local Government website for information on the rebates available in your area.

Below is an example of the rebate & eligibility requirements from the Wyndham City Council:
Wyndham ratepayers on JobKeeper may be eligible for a $100 rate rebate on their annual rates in 2020/21.
Please complete the below application form to access the COVID-19 JobKeeper Rate Rebate.
To be eligible, you must be:
- the owner of the property
- residing at the property
- receiving JobKeeper at some time between 1 July 2020 to 30 September 2020
- Confirming that you are receiving JobKeeper please provide a copy of a
- payslip (A payslip from between 1 July to 30 September 2020 that shows either a JobKeeper payment, JobKeeper top-up payment or JobKeeper FN eligibility),
- letter from your employer (I’m getting JobKeeper, but it’s not showing on my payslip? Please provide a letter from your employer that states that you have been assessed as being eligible for JobKeeper and the period you are eligible eg. Fortnight 1 to the end of the scheme) OR
- ATO monthly declaration receipt (I’m self-employed and receiving JobKeeper payments directly from the ATO. Please provide a copy of the July, August or September Monthly Declaration lodgement receipt, refer example attached. If you didn’t save the receipt for July or August, please save a copy when you lodge the September JobKeeper claim. (EXAMPLE OF ATO Jobkeeper Receipt)
- the name on a payslip/letter/receipt matches with the property owner’s name
For applications processed by 31st October 2020, the rebate will be applied to the 2nd rates instalment. For applications processed between 1 November and 31 December 2020, the rebate will be applied to the 3rd rates instalment.
